The Amalgamation project was a project from my Art Foundation degree year, this series looks at the combination of different organic materials. I was interested in the wide scope of combinations and the creative freedom the project would allow. The idea of merging substances and materials not usually found together intrigued me.

 

During the planning phase of the project, I dabbled with the idea of combining soft and hard organic materials. The juxtaposition of solid and liquid textures such as honey and wood intrigued me. As I would be working with organic materials it felt right for the pairings to be chosen organically, slips of paper with suggested materials were then drawn at random to form the pairs I would be combining.
